“Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.”

By: Jim Rohn

Now that is one powerful quote. How many of us are waiting for that day when we will be happy? Once I make a million dollars then I will be happy. Once I own my home then I will be happy. Once I am out of debt then I will be happy. What’s that saying? Tomorrow never comes?

I like the idea of designing your happiness for the present moment. It’s like saying, ‘Count Your Blessings’. How many things can you name that you are thankful for? Maybe once you have counted them you can say that you are happy in the present moment. šŸ™‚ Just a thought…

I needed this one today. It's hard to remember but one very important lesson to keep in mind. I will keep (maybe even create a poster) this quote to do just that. šŸ™‚

Yup. I needed this one today too!

It always strikes me how so many of us can spend so much of our lives planing for every want and whim, expect the one that matters most. Happiness, like all else in life, takes careful planning and effort, though I do think some people are born a little more chipper than others…

  3. Those people who are annoyingly chipper all the time, I just want to smack them. For some reason they can never seem to understand that normal (ya I said it) people are not bouncing off the walls happy all the time. But this doesn't mean that normal people aren't happy just the same.

One of my favorite quotes from my life in the Marines "If it ain't raining, we ain't training." This is a way of saying something similiar to what your quote is saying. Make the best of the situation because the storms will always come.

Wow I too needed this one today. Sometimes I feel like I'm fighting an uphill battle with no end in sight. Thank you for this.

I had a not so great day yesterday, and today looks much brighter, so I'm glad I'm reading your quote today. Easier to be happy on a day that looks brighter…

As to Jon's note on the annoyingly chipper, it turns out there is a gene for constant optimism. So I just ignore those people and assume they have the gene (which makes them lack empathy for the rest of us that lack it).

I'm reading this on Tuesday and it is exactly what the doctor ordered. I like to laugh and heaven knows between me, myself and I have lots of things to laugh at, but every once in a while a reminder is a useful thing. šŸ™‚ Thanks for the pick me up.

The older I get the more I agree with this quote. What we can forget there is usually something, even tiny that may bring a smile to your face.

  8. @artyyah says:

It's definitely a 'live for the moment ' quote which is something I try reqlly hard to do these days. Living is today

  9. Dan Meyers says:

Well, of course I agree with the quote but it's much harder to do in reality!! As long as we keep chipping away at our goals that we've created, we can give ourself a pat on the back for the progress.
