“Pessimism never won any battle.”
By: Dwight D. Eisenhower
So what do you think? Does this quote stand on its own or what? You will never reach your goals if you let pessimism get in your way. It’s easy to see all the reasons why you cannot do something. It takes work to find the ways you can do something and then make it happen.

Pessimism is for the birds!
I tend to refer to myself as an optimistic pessimist… It's so hard for me to quiet the evil voice of pessimism.
I like your MM quote this week Cheryl.
I am an eternal optimist. Pessimism is not in my vocabulary. I'm thankful for that, as I wouldn't be a writer today had I been to afraid to leave the safety of corporate life.
Read in a newspaper recently that the pupils that get the highest scores on tests are the ones that worry they may
fail:-)
And there is a lot of truth in that. It's when we are certain it's plain sailing that we fail. If we however are worried about failing we make that extra effort and succeed..
I tend to be a realist (fancy way of calling someone a cynic). I am not quite a pessimist, I believe in hope. But at the same time I will never be a silver lining optimist either. The glass is just a glass and while you argue about how full it is, I'm gonna drink your beer.
Boy isn't that the truth. It sure can start them thou.
I'm kind of with Jon on this – I tend to be a realist. Polyanna glasses don't work for me. Feeling way too down doesn't work either. Except the part Jon said about beer – I'll go for a cup of tea.
Love Jon's response to this!! I believe I'm a realist too. Though I lean a "little" to the optimist side. Obviously.
But, all in all, I agree with the quote.
So true. Of course you can't be optimistic all the time and you can't control bad thoughts from popping into your head. It's what you do with them. If you're feeling pessimistic because you "shoulda" done something, then remember my favorite New Year's resolution, borrowed from my brother — "No more coulda, woulda, shoulda's." You can't saw sawdust. You've got to keep looking ahead.
I disagree, pessimism wins lots of battles… It's just usually not the outcome we prefer!
I am more an optimist although realistic as I think there is always a solution even if it is not the optimal. Plus it is a lot less stressful than being a pessimist.
For the greater good, I agree. But my mother, has proved this statement wrong. On many occasions. Maybe I'm just too wimpy.
