Clutter In Need Of Assistance

By

I have a bathroom drawer that has just been screaming at me for help. For years now I have resisted. Not because I did not want to help, but because I did not want to take the time to help. What changed my mind? I was in a crappy mood and needed dental floss. Looking for dental floss in this drawer sent me over the edge. Can you see why?

Drawer Before

So I finally took action. I have begun the process of actually organizing this drawer. I bought it some nice little organizing trays that will still leave some room for just throwing something in, as in the sleep mask. The little trays have edges that allow them to cling together so they are not swimming willy nilly around the drawer. They also have non-skid thingys on the bottom. Yes. That is a technical term.

Drawer Organizer

This drawer is on its way to happier more organized days. The next time I am in a crappy mood and come looking for dental floss I will not have to be mean to this poor little drawer. Yes. I admit it. I was mean to it. None of this was its fault. It was entirely mine for not treating it to these organizers a long time ago.

Do you have a story like this? Tell me about it so I know I am in good company.

  1. Good idea. Whenever I clean up something like that I feel good about it. Did you know that according to Feng Shui having a mess around you has a negative influence on your life? It stops you from moving on in life. And since we want progress, it may be a good idea to be tidy in order to not tempt Chinese energies:-)

I did not know that. Another good reason to do away with the clutter. πŸ™‚

This is a great example of keep it simple Cheryl and being organized saves so much time. Whenever I clean up a drawer or cupboard I usually find I just feel better.

You are so right! And I do feel better when I have finished sorting out a mess like this. πŸ™‚

Well done… can you find anything now though?? Life can definitely me much simpler without clutter.

That's a very good point. Clean it and then can't find something. So far, so good. πŸ™‚

I have a few drawers like that. It easy to ignore them because they're in the laundry room. One of these days I will have at it and get them organized… LOL

I like that. Out of sight. Out of mind. πŸ™‚

  5. Oh my goodness – is that endless drawers of mine. It is so easy to ignore, but then once in a while when I clean them up it feels SO good. Why do we keep doing that?

    • Geek Girl says:

I have never been able to figure out how it is that once you have sorted things and cleaned them up they end of the same way as if you never did all that work in first place. Big sigh… Maybe we make the mess so we can get that good feeling back that comes from cleaning up a mess like this. Ridiculous circle… LOL

One of the things I was most bummed about when we moved into our new place was the lack of drawers. I went out and bought a lot of little plastic baskets to set on the closet shelves and below the sink. Sometimes I wish I could be a little cluttered, but it's like my brain freezes up and refuses to function until the clutter all finds a home.

    • Geek Girl says:

Seems like that could be a great asset. πŸ™‚

Hahaha!!! I have a few drawers like that here as well. Right now, my office desk could also need a bit of spring cleaning too. I guess that's the reason why I've been having a lot of difficulty to concentrate and focus lately. Time for a bit of cleaning up here.

    • Geek Girl says:

Yeah, I don't even want to think about my office drawers. That will be a huge task! LOL

Why can't drawers just come with built in organizers? I'd put furniture makers on a heavenly pedestal for doing that.

    • Geek Girl says:

I hear you. There is a 'but' to that though… people have different needs so they would have to supply different types of 'organized' drawers. Big sigh… no easy answer I am afraid.
