Walking Toward My Goal

By

These past few days where I live have been pretty cold, relatively speaking for the time of the year. The wind has been just wicked. Faithful to my goal I still did my walks, but they were quicker and shorter. You might think that these should not count since they were shorter than my intended goal. But I think the opposite is true. When I set out for my walks my muscles were cold and contracting. I walked so fast that it was actually good cardio. By the time I finished my walks my muscles were warmed up and feeling good. So I think I can count these shorter walks as keeping toward my goal to walk everyday.

These last few cold days have got me thinking about how I will manage when the snow flies. Not sure about that yet. I am open to suggestions though…

How do you keep fit when the weather does not cooperate?

I'm right with you: any exercise regardless of length COUNTS.

Hmmm, I have a gym in my home so, I cannot use weather as an excuse!

But when the snow starts flying, if you have a DVD, there are MANY walking exercise DVD that you can do right in front of your tv! I have several just to change up my routines.

Gosh that is a hard one. When the snow is flying or it pouring outside it's really hard to get yourself out there. I struggle with the same thing. I have toyed with buying a gentle used treadmill… but they are os dang boring. There is always mall walking if you have a mall near by. Patricia's Idea is a pretty good one.

I do understand your concern. I am back into a routine again but I worry when the weather changes.

Mall walking is not for me. I have a healthy respect for those that do it, though. The problem with using a treadmill is that I have very limited space. My thoughts have been running along the lines of good snow walking boots/shoes if I choose to walk outside. I am also leaning toward the fast paced music exercise stuff, too.

  3. Like you I go for walks no matter what the weather is like. Even when it's pouring with rain or snowing or extremely windy. Personally use a man's hat to make sure I don't get the rain or snow in my eyes. That makes a big difference.

Dress up in men's clothing… good idea actually. Thanks!

I am thinking about maybe music and dance as an option. Take the fast paced tracks and do some dance/exercise stuff to them. Thanks for the suggestion! 🙂

I ride an exercise bike when I can't jog, but I tend to brave the cold weather over the bike most days, which is a shame since I can read when I'm on the exercise bike 😉 Dance Central on the Xbox also gets my pulse going, despite the fact that I'm hopelessly uncoordinated.

Hopelessly uncoordinated? I thought you talking about me! LOL
