Viral Blog

What makes a blog go viral and a blogger go from obscure to the one everyone wants to follow and emulate? Is it purely chance, or perhaps it was timing. Maybe it was being in the right place at the right time?

Whatever the case may be it seems to me that what happens AFTER their moment of glory is what is important. How does that blogger remain relevant once their moment of glory has passed?

‘Content is King’ is still the phrase to keep front and center. If you do not have strong content to keep your reader’s attention, then they will move on to another blog.

One of the main objectives for Geek Girl USA is the active participation of the readers. We want to know what you are interested in so we can provide that content. Who better than our readers to help us determine what content to provide? This means that you will continue to read this blog because we are meeting your expectations.

What keeps you reading your favorite blogs?

The blogs I most return to offer usable information about writing, reviewing in self-publishing, but it's more than that. The humorous slice of life blogs I love the most capture the writer's opinions and personality in a captivating way. I've yet to do so on a regular basis on my blog, but at least I know what I'm aiming for. Finding that delicate balance between voice and being informative is a hard point indeed.

You make a very good point. Providing information in an entertaining way is probably the most effective. The best teachers are the ones who make learning fun. Thanks for the feedback. πŸ™‚

Jeri said it so eloquently. How could I say it better. I too like slice of life blogs that include the writer's opinions and personality. I like what you do–you combine your tech love with "you" just right on this blog. I think it shows that you are not just a tech girl. You are a well rounded individual. That's part of what keeps me coming back to your blog.

Thank you for letting me know what keeps you coming back. That's important to me. Balance can be a difficult thing, but I am working on it. πŸ™‚

I agree, content is king. But as long as the writing is good and the posts have heart – I'm there. There are a lot of interesting blogs out there, and I visit many new ones – my biggest pet peeve is when there's no response to comments. That's like talking to someone who doesn't answer you at a party! Anyway, I love your responses, your information and your blog has heart. Keep up the good work.

PS: Sorry for the visiting hiatus, I stopped getting the notices via Writing Is My Passion. Subscribed by email, now.

I am so glad you are back! I finally had to make the break from the old site. I put it on a redirect so anyone visiting that blog would be redirected. Unfortunately there was no way to bring forward the subscribers. I ALWAYS respond to comments because I feel the same way you do. Why leave a comment if there is no response? I am SO glad you like this blog. πŸ™‚
