Thanks Giving: #Thanksgiving

By

Thanks Giving…

Yes. I intentionally spelled it using 2 words so we can think about what it really means.

I have been reading countless posts about being thankful. My ‘thankful’ list is lengthy and includes family, friends and my health. These are things never to be taken for granted.

What I have not seen much of are posts about giving. I believe in ‘giving’ forward when I can. Sometimes it is as simple as holding the door for someone who needs it. Giving forward can include time, money, lending an ear to someone who needs to talk and just being there when someone needs you.

While we are listening to Christmas music before sitting down to feast on Thanksgiving dinner perhaps we can take a moment to ‘give forward’ to someone who needs it. It will no doubt make their Thanksgiving much happier. πŸ™‚

From my family to yours: Happy Thanksgiving!

Until next time…

Hi Cheryl – Interesting take on Thanksgiving – one most people probably wouldn't have considered had you not broken it into two words. But I'm with you on giving it forward. Especially this time of year when so many people are doing without or are alone on the holidays it is more important than ever to keep that in mind and reach out to them and do what you can, however small the gesture may seem it may make a huge difference in someone's life.

On a side note Cheryl, I'd like to thank you for all the time you have spent with me online teaching me the ins and outs of Kindle formatting. I so appreciate it!!

Hi Kristi – It was my pleasure to help. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  2. Aw, I couldn't agree with you more. It's something we all need reminding of from time to time and what better time then now. XOXO, Susan

You my friend are a perfect example of someone who gives forward on a daily basis. Have a wonderful holiday and I hope you are on the mend and feeling better. πŸ™‚

Point well taken, though I often like to joke that a lifetime of giving is taken care of due to the decade I spent teaching in various capacities πŸ™‚ Have a happy Turkey Day!

I love this Cheryl…it humbled me. It is indeed a time of giving for there are so many in the world who have so little. Thanks for the reminder and I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

  5. Thanks for the reminder Cheryl, and yes giving is just as important as being thankful. As you say, even small kindnesses can make a difference. I know they do for me. Happy Thanksgiving.

Cheryl what a lovely post. It's so true and I would venture to say, most of us DO miss this. It's so funny that just before I opened your blog email, my husband and I said we want to invite a local airmen or soldier, without friends or family here, to Christmas dinner. So it's done – we'll pay it forward to the very people who put their life on the line for us everyday. Thank YOU for the affirmation.

  8. Agree with you, Cheryl. Most people really need to be grateful for an abundance of things but all they do is complain. Can't help wondering if they really believe wealth is more important than health? No health – no wealth:-) If nothing else they should be grateful they were not born poor in Afghanistan, Iraq or Syria.
