Spell Check Anyone?

By

Thiller I posted this to Facebook and then I just could not resist writing a post about it. How hard is it to check your spelling? Or maybe have someone else check it BEFORE you put the display out for your customers to see. How many managers have walked by this display and not noticed the problem? Kinda scary I think…

Are you going to read an adult thiller or an adult thriller? According to the sign you are going to read a thiller…

So here is the question: Is there a problem with the educational system that people cannot spell? Or does the problem lie in our brains seeing what we ‘think’ we see rather than we is actually there? Do you see the color RED or blue?

That is too funny. I have to say, I am as guilty at times for my own reason.. 🙂

Yes, but your case is different. It is just you and not a store full of managers and employees. For what it's worth I think you do a great job! 🙂

Not too long ago I took a picture of a sign at the Starbucks drive-thru that advertised their hot pannini's. Not sure who those sandwiches belonged too… To me a mistake on a printed at is even more unforgiveable than one of a dry erase sign. I haven't taught elementary school so I don't know the ins and outs of teaching spelling, but I think many issues just come down to how all people in general read and write less. It's also easy to leave letters out without knowing it when writing on dry erase boards. I did it all the time teaching and oh how students loved to catch my mistakes, that I honestly didn't catch.

I definitely understand what you are saying. It just seems to me that a business should have more than one person checking stuff like this. I think it shines a negative light on the business. Maybe it's just me…

  5. We all make spelling mistakes since most of us are once in a while slightly dyslexic in the sense that we sometimes write say wirte instead of write. Or, as in your example forget one letter.

Don't think it's the education system that's at fault but the fact that we are frequently in a hurry and read what it should say. However, I can't understand why the sign in the shop window wasn't changed:-)

Exactly the point I was trying to make… why didn't anyone change this? I can't be the only one to notice.
