It’s that time of year where everyone seems to have a bit of a cough, or you know someone who has one. Maybe you have a little tickle in your throat that you don’t want to develop into anything more serious. Perhaps a little homemade cough syrup is in order.

I wanted to share this video with you so that you can see how simple it is to make a cough syrup. Making your own medicine doesn’t have to be complicated. After watching this video I am sure you can come up with your own version of cough syrup that your family will take without complaining.

**Be sure to watch until the end. The written recipe is provided there, not that you need one for this.

I may make my own videos one day, but for now I will use those that others have made.

So there you have it. Simple cough syrup that is tasty as well as healing.

I would be really interested to see what the homemade version tastes like and how effective it is. I get the willies just thinking about how Nyquil tastes.

As someone who is sensitive to most over the counter drugs, these homemade remedies are just the ticket.

  2. Onions are definitely a health food. Love them! And garlic. Well, we grew up eating it minced when we got sick and it pretty much cured all that ails you! Combine that with honey, and you've got a winner!

      I agree! All excellent ingredients.

As you know I love homemade anything, so this really interests and excites me. I do plan on making the cough syrup and giving it a try when the need arises. 🙂

Garlic, onions, honey; I love all those ingredients. So simple it's hard to believe it would have some medicinal effects. Thanks!

It's just simple ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen. Simple and tasty.

Wow, I've never seen a homemade cough syrup before. Anytime I start getting a cold, I go for the salt… either gargling with salt water or simply putting some salt on my tounge as it's supposed to break up the mucus.
