Letters From Grandma: Before You Were Born

I thought you might like a sneak peek of what my next book is going to be like so I am going to post portions of it to wet your appetite. Here is the unedited first excerpt. Enjoy!

Excerpt:

Right now you have plenty of time for contemplation. OK You have plenty of time to think up inventive ways to annoy your parents. As much fun as that will be it would also be prudent to remember what a blessing they are.

Your parents are very special people who will love you no matter what you do. They will stand beside you when you screw up, and you will screw up. We all do at one time or another. They will be there when you fall to help you get back up again. Your pain will be their pain. They know they cannot protect you from all the bad things that can happen in life, but they will be there to help you get through them.

Back to your short attention span… We all know how difficult it is to focus during that first year. You are too busy exploring and getting to know your new world. You are not thinking about what could happen because you have no experiences yet. When your parents warn you about something with a voice that is not exactly friendly you really should pay attention. If you choose not to listen, it is at your own peril.

Sometimes what grandma has to say is not all fun and pleasure. In many things you will find that I agree with your parents. Yeah, I know. What a bummer…

Until next time…

Love, Grandma

I like it. Though the kid won't read it for a long time it is a nice way to think back; for parents and children alike.
