Grandmother Diaries Update

By

The last few weeks have been different than usual here at Grandmother Diaries. My partner in crime, Carol Covin, has been dealing with a serious health issue so her Monday posts have been noticeable absent. I have also been going through some personal issues, some of which I have already explained.

As a result of these issues I have been posting videos of Herbal Medicine basics. The reason for this is two-fold. One: it gives those who are new to herbal medicine a quick and easy background, and Two: it sets the stage for more advanced posts in the future.

The house I live in now comes with a large back yard. There is really nothing planted there yet so it is a blank canvas. I have been investing weeks of planning so that when the weather permits I can begin working with it. I will share with you my progress as I transform this blank canvas into what I hope will be a combination of herbs, vegetables and flowers. This all fits in nicely to the lifestyle changes I have to make.

I am having trouble trying to keep my desire to do it all at once under control. It will be better if I take it slowly over time than rush into it and find I want to change something after too much has been invested. There is also the fact that there will be a considerable investment of time, money, and energy to get it all done. Years ago I did a considerable amount of canning and freezing of vegetables. I let that go for reasons I will not delve into now, but I see good reason to return to these practices. It’s healthier and money saving in the long term.

Will there still be app reviews? Yes. But they may be more focused on particular subject matters rather than just random free apps. Will there be product reviews? Probably, as appropriate. Guest posts? Again, as appropriate.

So there you have it. I hope that you will enjoy these changes. As always Grandmother Diaries is a work in progress.

As with life being a work in process, this explains your blog changes quite clearly. I for one appreciate the inside scoop! What kind of apps do you believe you will be reviewing when you get back to that?

    • Cheryl says:

I am looking at apps that help me plan things, like when to plant vegetables and when to harvest. Organizing is huge when planning a companion garden.

  2. We're all a work in progress, Cheryl! Go with your gut feelings about the path you should travel. And here's wishing you well with your health challenges.

    • Cheryl says:

      Thanks Doreen. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Changing and growing are a part of life. The changes may be uncomfortable when we first approach them but they can lead to better things. In your case I hope the changes help with your health and well being.

    • Cheryl says:

Thanks Jon. It will all be good in the end. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I know you've been struggling with what your next step or move would be online. I love that your plan is to go in a direction that is n your heart. I'll be there to cheer you on my dear friend.

    • Cheryl says:

You are one of my biggest cheer leaders and I love you my friend. ๐Ÿ™‚

Writing journeys never end, that is the beauty and the agony of it all. It will be cool to see what you do with your backyard. We're getting ours back into workable shape since it was too hot to accomplish very much when we arrived back here last July. I'll always have a strawberry bed and a veggie bed, but I have yet to try a dedicated herb bed.

    • Cheryl says:

I am planning to plant the companion plant way. I have never tried it but I have high hopes that it will be good.

  6. Life happens when we least expect it and is a combination of both positive and negative happenings. Glad you are clearly feeling better and keen to get on with transforming your garden.

It sounds like you have had a lot going on but are emerging from that. I would love to have a project such as your garden, but with my allergies and such, I will have to do this vicariously through you ๐Ÿ™‚
Good luck with all the changes.
