Exercise Ball

By

Exercise Ball As a result of the arthroscopic shoulder surgery I had I have physical therapy sessions. I have been learning all kinds of exercises to strengthen different muscles. It is really a learning experience.

One of the items I am learning to use that I will use long after my physical therapy sessions are finished is the exercise ball. I am talking about the BIG ball. Not a little ball you hold in your hand. A big ball you can sit on. I really had no idea how useful these things are. I am strengthening my shoulder muscles using this ball. Seriously…

So I am wondering if any of you use an exercise ball. If you do, what do you think of it? What type of exercises do you use it for?

It's been a while but I have a big blue ball that I used for strength training. I agree it is amazing what you can do with it and it's fun. I need to get back to using it… once I pump it up… LOL

Cool… Strength training is indeed what I am using it for now with my physical therapy. Find that pump and make friends with that ball again! LOL

I wore my exercise ball out! I need to get a new one. I have some twitchy knees, but one of my favorite exercises to do was to put the ball between my back and a wall and do squats that way. My thighs sure felt it, but my knees were fine. I also liked doing crunches on it.

Cool… now I have 2 more exercises to try. This is my first time with the ball so I have a lot to learn. 🙂

Besides the exercises above, the ball is great for stretching your back. Sit on the ball, keep your feet on the floor and genlty lean back and roll the ball under your lower back. it's a nice easy stretch.

I have never tried an exercise ball but have often wondered how I would go using one

If it were not for my physical therapy, I am not sure I would be using one either. Now that I have started using one I can see it remaining part of my routine. Who knew a ball could be useful for so many things? 🙂

If I didn't have two little boys who are Hell bent on throwing stuff around, I would definitely have one for working out. They are so versatile in their usage. By the way, I'm having trouble with "Geek Girl's" RSS feed – it reverts to "Writing Is My Passion," which I have but it's no longer updated. I subscribed by email but since my Inbox is bombarded, RSS is preferable. Just letting you know.
