# DIY Natural : A Must Follow Site

Not long ago I discovered a site that I subscribed to immediately after finding it. It’s that good. It’s run by Matt & Betsy, who are passionate about living naturally and focused on a sustainable lifestyle. The best part is that they share all of this goodness with the rest of us. You can pretty much find about anything you are looking for on their site; everything from cleaners to beauty to health and food.

I am going to share a few links to some of the items I think will give you the flavor of what their site is like. Then you can decide for yourself if they provide information that is of use to you. They offer up great money savings tips, too.

Natural Lip Care and a Homemade Lip Balm Recipe

“Summer is one of the worst seasons for your lips. Despite the high humidity in much of the region, lips go through high heat, blazing sun, and just plain old wear and tear. They can get chapped, reddened, dried out, and can even peel. But if you know how to take care of them properly, they can be oh so soft.” Read more…

How to Make an Herbal Body Cream

“When I first started making soap, people asked me about natural skin care. I tried a few recipes and some of them worked, but some of them–well–not so much. I came across a hand cream recipe that looked good, though when I tried to make it, it came out greasy and often separated. Of course, the original recipe had me using paraffin wax and mineral oil. I knew there had to be a better way.” Read more…

Using Plantain Weed for Skin Irritations & Even Food

“If you haven’t already picked up on this, I love weeds! Often I’m asked, “What weed is your favorite weed?”

Although a difficult question to answer, it’s hard to pass up the lovely plantain weed (Plantago major or Plantago lanceolata).” Read more…

A Simple Natural Effective Homemade Dry Shampoo

“There was a time in my life when I was one of those people who washed my hair every single day. I took a shower every morning, dried my hair, and straightened it with a flat iron. I did that all through high school and college, even though it took me at least half an hour each day. Looking back, I can’t believe how much of my life I’ve spent drying my hair.

Part of the reason that it used to take me so long to do my hair is that my hair is thick. Seriously, hairstylists marvel over how much hair I have. (That’s always a hard thing to reply to, by the way. Do I say thanks? Are they even complimenting me? Are they actually kind of complaining because my hair is more work? I can never tell.)” Read more…

How to Clean your Front Load Washer Naturally

“Let me tell you a story about my old washing machine.

It was an old, white, top-loading hand-me-down that had been used for many years before it belonged to us. I did a lot of laundry in that old machine–my husband’s work clothes, all the newborn clothes from both of my children, and all the other bits and pieces that come from having a four-person household.” Read more…

You get the idea. Kudos to them for sharing such useful information!

Until next time…

So interesting to me that the forward thinking trend is now to go backwards…start making things for every day use in small batches just like the folks of long ago did. It feels like taking full responsibility! I know that must sound odd, but just looking at the lip balm, for example. I must have spent thousands over the years trying and buying lip balm. I think I must be addicted to it…but reading over that recipe I started thinking how easy it truly is…and how I'd never run out and how cool it would make me feel to have taken charge of that detail in my life! LOL

  2. Very cool, Cheryl! Thx to posting the link for this DIY natural website. It really looks fascinating and useful.

This is (as you know!) something I look for quite often. I'm headed over to read the ideas about the dry shampooing.

Thanks for sharing this one Cheryl.

Cheryl I love the ideas shared on this site. Plan on trying out the herbal body cream but think I will try the coconut oil since I’m not allergic and love the smell. Nothing better than all natural solutions. 🙂

  5. Thank you for sharing, Cheryl. Had never heard about the site before. Making your own body lotion sounds like a good idea.
