Have you heard the news? VTech has a new phone system that enables seniors to remain independent while helping them stay safe. When I was approached to evaluate and give feedback on the ‘Careline™ Home Safety Telephone System’ I was thrilled.

Yes. You are right. I am not a senior, yet. But my time is coming and I want this solution in place before I actually need it. VTech developed this system with guidance from the ‘Oregon Center for Aging and Technology’. This way they knew they were addressing the needs most important to seniors.

I have struggled with vision my entire life. I do not expect that will change as a senior. The Careline™ Home Safety Telephone System addresses that struggle by providing large screens and big buttons. My hearing has been compromised as well so I like getting the volume boost it provides with Audio Assist. It also comes with a pendant you can wear for quick and easy access to help should something happen and you cannot get to the phone. One button dialing and help is on the way.

As a senior I would also be looking at a cost effective way to have all of this without the monthly fees or contracts most services require. For seniors on a budget this is huge. The Careline™ Home Safety Telephone System also addresses that. No monthly fees or contracts. It can be used for both emergencies and as your regular telephone.

The Careline™ Home Safety Telephone System goes a long way toward providing children with aging parents some peace of mind. Seniors can maintain their independence while at the same time having quick and easy access to help. Living across the country no longer causes as much concern. You can live in California and your parents can live in Florida and both of you can have peace of mind knowing that help is available at the push of a button.

The system comes with 3 pieces:

  • Big Button Full-Featured Corded Base Phone that includes a digital answering system
  • Cordless Handset with large screen and big buttons
  • Portable Safety Pendant that can make one-button emergency calls
    • No monthly fees or contracts

Setup is quick and easy with the Quick Start Guide. Nice big text! Yes. It also comes with a more detailed manual.

This looks like a great tool for a senior needing that little extra. I have an uncle, who came to mind, that would love this. He has been looking for something similar so this may be just what he is looking for. Thank you for the great review. 🙂

  4. There is such a need for this product for the Elderly. Love that it doesn't have hidden costs. Buy and use what could be better?

Wow! What a great product! And you spelled it out so clearly I am almost convinced I need it–well not for a few years. I wish something like this had been available when my great-grandparents–yes I said great–were still living at home. They lived together alone at their house until my Pap Pap was around 93 and my Nana had just turned 90. This product is great for elderly in this situation. Unfortunately my Nana suffered a broken hip and did not recover after surgery forcing us to put my Pap Pap in a retirement home. If they were still living in their home today, this is definitely something I would get for them.

Is this the same Vtech that makes children's toys? Interesting. My mom would probably let this piece of equipment enter her house if it came in purple. No, she'd be delighted – I think.

    • Geek Girl says:

Hey – I think you should ask them for colors. I would like colors. I just didn't think of it before you did. LOL

  11. Geek Girl says:

    Thanks. 🙂

Yeah, it really is a great system.
